Well, the town I come from is called Garmisch-Partenkirchen. For centuries, the one town was actually two little villages, Garmisch and Partenkirchen. But because Germany wanted to host the Winter Olympics in 1936, and each of the two little villages alone was too small, they combined them.
There was a lot of rivalry between the two towns, and I'm sure if you ask some very old farmer in Partenkirchen today, he'll still tell you that all the people in Garmisch are "idiots". And vice-versa. ;-)
I was born in Garmisch, grew up in Partenkirchen and then moved with my parents to Garmisch when I was 12. Then, 6 years later, I moved away to learn a few life lessons, then came back to Partenkirchen at the age of 30. From there I moved to Atlanta two years later.
And why am I telling you all this? Because today Mom, Hubby and I took a stroll in the old part of Partenkirchen.
And of course, I have more pictures...

And the picture of the day:

A room with a view in a little Bavarian town - not unheard of to have a dungheap in front your window. ;-)
