Yep - they are - you can finish knitting and spinning and meet with friends, too.
On Saturday, Pixie and I had a girl's day out, and got our hair done and massages. How wonderful, especially when the hairdresser is married to the massage therapist and you only have to walk into another room from one appointment to the other. I was very relaxed after the massage and told my hairdresser I would probably not argue much if he wanted to shave my head. Ha-ha-ha... But he didn't. And after that Pixie and I went clothes shopping - I can not remember the last time I did that. Usually I shop for yarn, MUA-HA-HA... I don't think Ms. Pixie knitted one stitch during our whole outing - but she looked at my newest issue of Verena (German knitting magazine). I am very glad that I am on a yarn diet and that I have so much yarn at home. That issue has a ton of cool patterns for spring and summer. Here are some of them to make you drool and run to the Goethe Institute to take a German class...
I am totally content that this magazine has only four issues a year. I need to count, but I think the current issue has over 80 patterns.
On Sunday I went with Jen to the Peachtree Handspinner's Guild meeting. We had a lot of fun and I enjoyed spending the day with her. Yeah baby - I get to hang out with the blog celebrities. :-) I feel bad now because I just read on her blog that one of her llamas got away during the day, and she had to find him - and did, in the neighbors pasture with the cows - and bring him back home. I am sure he did not like hanging out with those lower life-forms. :-) Go read her story here.
Unfortunately there was a vendor at the PHG meeting and I had to buy some roving. It's hand-dyed merino. These greens are very intriguing:

And lastly - since I mentioned FOs in the title entry - I finished the blue poncho. Yupidoo - and perfect timing because it is freakin' cold here. (Yesterday morning it was in the low 20s!) I am quite pleased how it turned out. Look for yourself:

Since I did not know how much yarn I would need - I had only 14 balls with 79 yds each - I knitted from the top down with a chunky Aran cable in back and front. It went really fast. And I added a ruffle on the top and bottom. The one at the neckline is added on later by picking up stitches.
Oh - and last but not least - there is a preview out for the next issue of Interweave Knits:

I am not so thrilled about the previews, except for one - The Entrelac Knee Socks from Eunny Jang:

OK - gotta run now and do some work. Duty calls...

That's interesting - this is the first issue in a while that had more than one or two patterns I like. I even liked the nightie.

Goethe Institute? I don't need no stinkin' Goethe Institute! I can't begin to tell you how much I MUST have that brown turtleneck. Pretty sure I know enough German to wing it :-)
And hooray for breaking free of Blogger!

Claudia, is that blue and purple you spun up from the bag of Louet Northern Lights you bought from me at Distaff Day? If so, may I put a link to it on my website? It's gorgeous.

Nice sunday. I don't ever remember one of those in my lifetime. I guess I gotta get somebody to send the Verena or maybe a new Filati to me? And talking about knitted underwear. Imagine that thong in 100% wool? Yikes, no thanks. But the Fair Isle Sweater sure looks promising. :o)
